For many people from the Dutch and (mainly) German fetish scene Dominique is a well-known person. We first admired her at some pretty exciting shows (Wasteland and others) in Holland and Germany and her club Insomnia has been frequently visited by many of us. During our last year's visit at German Fetish Ball weekend she was even kind enough to keep her doors open for just us and some friends that didn't want to go home yet. And so we partied on until the early morning hour and what an afterparty that was!
A beautiful, stylish lady with long blond hair. That's all we know about her. But who is she, how did she become what she's now and what are her passions in life? An interview with her will afford us a glance behind the scenes.
Truelove: Dominique, would you tell us something about your years before you ended up in the fetish/party scene?
Dominique: In the age of 18 I founded my first professional
dominatrix-studio together with my mother. After that I went to the TV
and the talkshows, than I discovered the Berlin party scene especially
the KitKatClub. Later I married and together with my husband we're
celebrating erotic techno parties very successfully. After a while I
wanted to have my own club.
Truelove: Since when are you managing Insomnia and how is the club evolving?
Dominique: I'm managing the INSOMNIA erotic night club
since 2006. If you count the time of reconstruction (it's an old
building from 1888) even since 2005. After the great opening party the
business volume is increasing permanently.
Truelove: Do you also participate in other parties? And which are your favourite ones?
Dominique: I'm present on other parties, of course. So you can find me with my performance group "Double Trouble Berlin"
all over Europe at the fetish parties like the "Wasteland" at Amsterdam
or at Austria or at Switzerland. Furthermore I'm working at Essen or
Cologne as a doorwomen at the KitKatCologne parties by Clark Kent.
Truelove: What, in your opinion, makes a good party?
Dominique: I think the most important thing is a nice and interesting
mixture of party guests. Somebody of each age, a little bit bohemia and
some wicked bourgeoisie. Furthermore full beats, an energizing
location, similar disposition of the guests and a clear, coherent party
theme: Birthday Party – Medieval Ages History Party– Fetish Party - Sex
Party.
Truelove: Do you like to dress up for a party? What's your style and what's your favourite partydress?
Dominique: Yes, of course. Dresscode is very important. Boring casual
clothing creates no optical teasing. I prefer an elegant-lascivious
accoutrement in a plain black. It's necessary, that all party guests
are engaged with the dress code. Only in this way the inimitable erotic
atmosphere will be generated and the visitors change from simple guests
to participators and active creators of the party.
Truelove: Do you have a special fetish yourself?
Dominique: No, I’ve no special fetish for myself. But I well understand
those people who prefer latex, leather or lace. Corsets are
accentuating the feminine figure of a woman advantageously.
Truelove: Besides your club and performances on stage, what other favourite pastime, sports or passions in life do you have?
Dominique: To compensate my numerous activities I like to ride my
mountain bike together with my son, especially in the Berlin forests.
My family is very important for me.
Truelove: Would you describe an average day in your life to us?
Dominique: I get up at high noon approximately. About one hour later I
start by business at the desktop organizing a lot of activities around
my nightclub (marketing, show acts, parties, etc.). In the afternoon my
son returns from school and I am supporting him in his homework.
Sometimes I am driving to the hair-dresser or to the manicure or I go
shopping with my son. After the dinner, I'm preparing for my appearance
in the nightclub. We're open till the early morning, sometimes even
till 8:00 a.m...
Truelove: What really makes you happy in life?
Dominique: (Laughing!) Well, that may be some very different events.
When I see how my son is coming along well or sitting in the sunshine
at a lakeside in the Grunewald (famous forest in Berlin). Driving along
with an open car in the summertime listening "Rammstein". A well filled
club in the evening… in fact it's more or less a sequence of small
lucky moments. By the way: Luck is compensating by altitude the loss of
length.
Truelove: What is the most tricky situation you've ever been in?
Dominique: At the beginning of my carrier – when I was pretty green –
even two guys came along forcing me to "work" for them. I think, I had
got a lot of headache. The time following the opening of the nightclub
was not quite simply. It takes a great deal of time since the turnover
reaches a satisfying amount.
Truelove: Whom do you absolutely admire?
Dominique: People with directness, honesty, truthfulness and reliability.
Truelove: If you would give someone a good advice, what would that be?
Dominique: It doesn't matter what people are telling you. It only
counts what they are doing effectively. Actions feel better than words.
Truelove: What are your future plans?
Dominique: In some years I would like to manage a kind of nursing home
for hedonistic people. Someone who's living his whole life in an
extraordinary way wouldn't miss it being old-aged. I would like to
offer an alternative to those regular ones. The gay community is ahead
in this aspect of about twenty years. They opened the first gay-lesbian
nursing home in Berlin. I think, your seniority is much better to cope,
having your teatime with like – minded people around you, sensual
performances and a Tantra Massage. It will be – in fact – much better
than gaming "Ludo" particularly when the nurses are wearing some damned
curtly uniforms. So what?
Truelove: What's your definition of Truelove.
Dominique: If the partners are supporting each other in every
situation. May be by small gesture of love and in an extensive
understanding for each other. A good communication and a cultivating
positive image about the other are the essential basics for the true
love.
